On Opportunity

The Swiss used to own the watch business, thousands of Swiss citizens worked in the industry.

It was a national economic power and a source of great pride.

Swiss watch industry engineers developed the Quartz-Crystal time-keeping system and presented it to their managers, who, believing that a watch must have springs and gears, declined to use the invention.

In an international trade show, the engineers exhibited the Quartz system as a novelty and did not bother to patent it, after all, the bosses said it is of no commercial value.

The Japanese attended that trade show. They found the new innovation exciting and of great interest.

The rest, as it is said, is history.

Opportunity knock twice, if you first do not respond, the second time is when you realize that someone else did.
